News   Swados' Political Subversities Returns to Joe's Pub Dec. 21
Political Subversities by Elizabeth Swados — the Tony-nominated artist behind the musicals Runaways and Alice in Concert — will return to Joe's Pub with a holiday-themed edition Dec. 21

A cast of performers and writers — Utkarsh Ambudkar, Bart Atsin, Tia Jennings, Danielle Levanas, Vella Lovell, Preston Martin, Chloe Ramras, David Skeist and Emma Tattenbaum-Fine — created the latest edition, which will play Joe's Pub at 11:30 PM.

Most recently seen at Joe's Pub in October, Political Subversities — a collection of scenes, monologues and songs that depicts the "absurdity of our world as it is now as well as the scandalous and outrageously stupid behavior of the people who inhabit it" — has been updated for the holidays. Swados and company promise "new holiday material sure to make you spew your egg nog and tickle your yule log," according to press notes.

Swados directs the evening with musical direction by Kris Kukul.

Elizabeth Swados earned Tony nominations for her work as composer, lyricist, book writer, choreographer and director of Runways. She has penned book, music and lyrics for Alice in Concert with Meryl Streep, as well as Lullabye and Goodnight, The Trilogy, Nightclub Cantata and Groundhog.

Tickets for Political Subversities are available by calling (212) 967-7555 or by visiting www.joespub.com.
