News Swing for Victory! Reading, with Brown, McNae, Remke and Smith, Presented March 11 The York Theatre Company's Developmental Reading Series continues March 11 with a free reading of the new musical Swing for Victory!

Directed by Daniel T. Lavender, the reading of the "all-new 1940's big band revue" boasts the talents of Karyn McNae as Faith, Blair Brown as Fran, Ron Remke as Frank and Stephen Smith as Phil. Show time is 3 PM. (Note: This is not the Tony-winning Blair Brown but another New York actress with the same name.)

Swing for Victory! features a book by Michael Ruby and 14-piece orchestrations and four-part vocal arrangements of nearly 60 classic songs by Irving Berlin, the Gershwins, Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer, Rogers and Hart, Dorothy Fields and more.

"Through laughter and song," press notes state, Swing for Victory! "tells the story of The Four F's – a fictional, Modernaires-style mixed quartet – as they embark on a marathon performance to bolster the spirits of a group of soldiers under siege. The group strives to entertain the troops while enduring stress, fatigue and a few unexpected surprises on the eve of V-E Day."

The creative team also includes orchestrator/arranger Joshua Clayton, musical director Alex LeFevre, sound desiger David Roy, and stage manager Eddie Rabon.

The reading will be presented at the York's home at The Theatre at Saint Peter's on 54th Street, east of Lexington Avenue.
