For those looking to see if they have what it takes to swing in with the new year, Carlos Sierra-Lopez and Maria Torres, featured in Broadway's Swing!, will be teaching the basics of Latin swing on Monday, Feb. 28 at 8:30 PM at the New York Health and Racquet Club, 110 West 56th Street. Dubbed "Latin Loca," the class will offer a low-impact workout, using Jive and Swing dance to hip-hop and Latin jazz music. Of course, the cast album of Swing! will often serve as the background music.

After five weeks of previews, Lynne Taylor-Corbett's Swing! opened, Dec. 9, to strong reviews at the St. James Theatre. The high energy, all-dance nod to the worldwide Swing phenomenon stars composer and song stylist Ann Hampton Callaway in her Broadway debut, with direction and choreography by Taylor-Corbett. The production was surpervised by Tony Award-winning director Jerry Zaks.
