Off-Broadway News Sylvia Khoury’s Against The Hillside Opens Off-Broadway The new play at Ensemble Studio Theatre examines the hidden human costs of drone warfare.

The world premiere of Sylvia Khoury’s play Against The Hillside celebrates its official opening February 8 at Ensemble Studio Theatre. The new drama examines the hidden costs of drone warfare through the stories of a drone pilot and a young Pakistani woman.

Against The Hillside, directed by William Carden, began performances January 31 and is scheduled to run through February 25. The Radio Drama Network is co-presenting.

The cast of the Off-Broadway production is made up of Rajesh Bose, Mohit Gautam, Caroline Hewitt, Mahira Kakkar, Jack Mikesell, Sammy Pignalosa, Babak Tafti, John Wernke, and Avery Whitted.

Against The Hillside has been developed through EST’s Youngblood program, the Eugene O’Neill Playwrights’ Conference, the Roundabout Theater’s Underground Reading Series, the NNPN National Showcase of New Plays, and The Lark.

The world premiere features scenic design by Jason Simms, costume design by Sydney Maresca, lighting design by Barbara Samuels, sound design and original music by Shane Rettig, and props by Claire Rufiange. Kate Croasdale is the stage manager.
