News T. Scott Cunningham Gets Placement at 78th St. Theatre Lab Broadway and Off-Broadway regular T. Scott Cunningham will star in a new one-man play by Stanley Rutherford, The Chinese Art of Placement. The work will have it New York premiere at the 78th Street Theatre Lab on Feb. 27, for an opening on March 7.

Jessica Bauman, who worked on the Dawn Powell play festival at 78th Street last year, will direct the piece. Cunningham, last seen on the New York stage in the Roundabout's Design for Living, plays Sparky Litman. Nothing has ever gone terribly well for Sparky—not junior high romance, not his career as a poet, not an episode of international espionage. His haplessness has brought him to the edge of insanity, but Litman hopes to change his luck by following the ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui and placing his chair in exactly the right location.

Cunningham has had parts written for him by Doulgas Carter Beane (Music from a Sparkling Planet) and Nicky Silver (The Eros Trilogy). Other credits include As Bees in Honey Drown, Pterodactyls and Love! Valour! Compassion!.

Tickets are $15. The theatre is at 236 W. 78th Street in Manhattan. Call (212) 206-1515.
