The episode, which premiered Nov. 25 on Bravo, will be rebroadcast from 8-9 PM Nov. 26 on NBC. In an episode titled "Mr. Clean Comes Clean: Bald Is Beautiful," a 36-year-old married lawyer from West Orange, N.J., receives the Fab Five treatment. Richard, who is a fan of Broadway, is treated to a rare backstage visit at Taboo, the new Boy George musical at the Plymouth Theatre.
"Queer Eye" culture maven Jai Rodriguez escorts Richard backstage: while there, he has the chance to meet O'Donnell, Boy George, Liz McCartney and other members of the cast. O'Donnell also presents Richard with a bag of Taboo merchandise and a poster signed by the entire cast.
"Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" features five gay men — Jai Rodriguez, culture maven; Kyan Douglas, grooming guru; Ted Allen, food and wine connoisseur; Carson Kressley, fashion savant; and Thom Filicia, design doctor — who lend their talents each week to help re-create a straight guy.
The program was created by David Collins, who — while visiting a Boston gallery — overhead a woman unfavorably comparing her schlubby husband to three fab-looking gay men. The gay men overheard as well and offered the woman advice for her spouse. Collins told AP, "As I left with my buddy, I jokingly said, 'That was kind of the queer eye for the straight guy.' These guys swooped in there and helped this man out."
