The classic George Bernard Shaw comedy will also feature the talents of Kate Forbes, Robert Langdon Lloyd, Polly Lee, Michael Milligan and Michael Siberry. Lisa Peterson will direct the play, which runs at the New Jersey theatre March 23-April 11. Opening night is set for March 26.
According to production notes, Candida concerns "an impetuous young poet [who] comes between a progressive-minded clergyman and his charismatic wife [and] shrewdly and sympathetically puts their competing claims for her love to the test." Candida was first produced in 1897.
The creative team for the McCarter production comprises Neil Patel (sets), Michael Krass (costumes), David Weiner (lighting) and Mark Bennett (composer/sound design).
Jeffrey Carlson's Broadway credits include Taboo, Tartuffe and The Goat or Who Is Sylvia? He was seen at the McCarter Theatre in the title role of Emily Mann's production of Romeo and Juliet, and his other theatrical credits include The Miracle Worker, Thief River, Manuscript and Sodom and Gomorrah.
