The new tour of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music, is set to begin performances at the Capitol Theatre in Yakima, Washington September 1–3. Led by Jill-Christine Wiley as Maria Rainer, the tour is a non-equity relaunch based on the 2015 national tour, which was directed by Jack O’Brien and choreographed by Danny Mefford. Matt Lenz and Jonathan Warren recreate their work respectively, for the new tour. Music supervision is by Andy Einhorn.
The Sound of Music features music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, and is suggested by The Trapp Family Singers by Maria Augusta Trapp.
