News Tamara Tunie Makes Film Directorial Debut With "See You in September" Actress and producer Tamara Tunie, whose career spans Broadway and television, now takes a seat in the director's chair for an upcoming independent film.

Variety reports that Tunie will direct and produce the romantic indie film "See You in September," which is scheduled for a 2008 release.

Tunie is well known to television audiences for her role as medical examiner Dr. Melinda Warner on "Law and Order: SVU." Her career started in Broadway's Oh, Kay and continued with the Actor's Fund benefit of Dreamgirls as well as the Julius Caesar revival starring Denzel Washington.

Tunie is also known for her producing abilities: She helped bring August Wilson's Radio Golf and the Tony-winning hit Spring Awakening to Broadway. Tunie reunites with producers Jennifer Maloney and Joe Cilibrasi from the Spring Awakening and Legally Blonde producing team for the indepedent film.

Victoria Rinaldi and Joe Cilibrasi penned the screenplay for "See You in September," which, according to Variety, centers on a successful Manhattan businesswoman whose therapist goes on vacation just before her client is about to reach a breakthrough on her fear of commitment. In her therapist's absence, the woman initiates group therapy for other patients who have been abandoned by their vacationing therapists.

"See You in September" stars Estella Warren, Justin Kirk, David Eigenberg, Michael Hyatt, Liza Lapira and James McDaniel. Filming for the production begins in Manhattan Aug. 6.
