Singer-actress Moore ("Grey's Anatomy," "How to Deal") plays Rapunzel, the heroine with the long golden hair who's kept in a distant tower by the wicked Mother Gothel (Murphy, of Passion, The King and I and Anyone Can Whistle). Levi ("Chuck") plays the swarthy bandit Flynn Rider, who meets Rapunzel when he is forced to hide in her tower.

Broadway and Disney veteran Alan Menken has written a score for the film with Glenn Slater. Eight-time Academy Award winner Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, "Beauty and the Beast," "The Little Mermaid") has worked with Slater (newyorkers) on songs for the Broadway version of The Little Mermaid, as well as Leap of Faith and Sister Act. The latter musical will be seen on Broadway this spring, with the former aiming for a New York bow in the fall.

In addition to Moore, Levi and Murphy, three-time Emmy Award winner Brad Garrett ("Everybody Loves Raymond") and Drama Desk Award winner and six-time Emmy nominee Jeffrey Tambor (Glengarry Glen Ross, "Arrested Development") are also heard in the voice cast.

Nathan Greno and Byron Howard direct the film from a screenplay by Dan Fogelman. Disney/Pixar animation head John Lasseter serves as an executive producer.
