LOS ANGELES -- No, thank goodness, it isn't Death and Taxes; it's illness and taxes that have afflicted the Jewel Box Theatre. Paul Casey's comedy, Your Taxe$ At Work, was supposed to kick off Series C of the 2nd Annual World Premiere One Act Festival, opening Jan. 16 for a run through Feb. 6. However, lead actress Jean Carol came down with a cold, a spokesperson told Playbill On-Line (Jan. 14), and her understudy has, too.
Therefore, the play has been temporarily postponed, with no new dates yet set.
To be featured in the Taxe$ cast are the Jewel Box's Gemstone Players, directed by Greg Franklin.
"The plot revolves around Vaxine (Jean Carol), who returns home to find a police drawing of a dead body whom she mistakenly believes is her husband Rodger (Jim Blanchette)," a company release noted. "However, she learns from her friend Rose (Lisa Wyatt) that the mystery victim is actually their lover, who leads a pornographic website."
