LOS ANGELES -- Leonard Melfi's 1978 Taxi Tales, five kinky comedy vignettes about eccentric New York cabbies and their even odder passengers, will open at the Raven Playhouse April 3 and run through May 10.

Produced by The Dark Night Players and directed by David Anthony Dion, the play features a cast of 18 plus the Doo Wops singers, who tie the five tales together.

Melfi wrote more than 20 one-act plays in the mid-'60s and contributed to the writing of the Broadway hit Oh! Calcutta In 1969, he collaborated with Israel Horovitz and Terrence McNally on Morning, Noon and Night for Broadway.

Performances of Taxi Tales are Fri. and Sat. at 8 PM and Sun. at 7 PM at the Raven Playhouse, 5233 Lankershim Blvd., N. Hollywood. For tickets, $12, call (818) 845-4483 or (818) 845-1464.
