News Taye Diggs Likely for New ABC Drama "Daybreak" Stage and screen star Taye Diggs, recently seen in the film adaptation of Jonathan Larson's "Rent," will likely star in the new ABC pilot "Daybreak."

Variety reports that Diggs is close to signing a deal to play a Los Angeles-based policeman "wrongfully accused of murder" in the new drama. "While trying to figure out who framed him," the industry paper explains, "Diggs' character must also race to stop another murder from happening." "Daybreak" is a Touchstone TV production and will be directed by Rob Bowman. Producers include Paul Zbyszewski and Matt Gross.

Taye Diggs has appeared on Broadway in Wicked, Carousel, Rent and Chicago. He received an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination for his performance in Off-Broadway's The Wild Party and was recently seen in A Soldier’s Play. Diggs’ screen credits include “Rent,” “Kevin Hill,” "How Stella Got Her Groove Back," "The Best Man," "The Way of the Gun," "House on a Haunted Hill," "The Wood," "Go," "Brown Sugar" and "Chicago."
