Stage director Julie Taymor has agreed to direct a film of William Shakespeare's gory and rarely-performed Titus Andronicus for First Look Pictures. The director of Juan Darien on Broadway is scheduled to direct a stage adaptation of Disney's The Lion King, set to open Nov. 20 at the New Amsterdam Theatre.
The Lion King spokesperson Patty Onagan said the shooting schedule of Titus Andronicus will not conflict with Lion King.
Jane Howell's 1985 film version of the play for the BBC starred Trevor Peacock as Titus.
