The audience at the March 30 evening preview of the new Broadway musical Waitress got a reward for waiting out a technical delay—the composer-lyricist Sara Bareilles herself offering an impromptu mini concert.

A technical problem developed with a piece of the set and the show was halted for roughly 30 minutes during Act I. Bareilles sang two songs, including Alan Menken's “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid.

Pit musicians accompanied Bareilles who also offered a performance of “Down at the Diner,” a cut song from the production.
