News Tennessee Williams' The Fat Man's Wife to Receive U.K. Premiere at Fringe Canal Cafe Theatre Tennessee Williams' The Fat Man’s Wife, written in 1938 but unproduced until 2004, is to receive its U.K. premiere at the Canal Café Theatre in London's Little Venice in Maida Vale. It will begin performances Feb. 13 prior to an official opening Feb. 15, for a run through March 2.

It will be directed by Russell Lucas and produced by Annie Biddlecombe. Set on New Year’s Eve 1938, "Vera, a sophisticated Manhattan socialite (played by Emma Taylor), and her husband Joe, an influential theatre producer, return home after attending a party," according to press notes. "Although Joe is well known as a philanderer, he is disgruntled that a young playwright, Dennis, has paid particular attention to Vera throughout the night. Unbeknown to Joe, Dennis visits Vera to beg her to run away with him and she is forced to make the difficult choice between her new passion and her existence as the 'fat man’s wife.'"
