Tony winner Terrence McNally has been named the 2019 recipient of the Broadway League’s Distinguished Lifetime Service Award. The announcement was made May 15 at the League’s annual Spring Road Conference.
The playwright is currently represented on Broadway with a revival of Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune starring Audra McDonald and Michael Shannon. The League—alongside the American Theatre Wing—will also present him with an honorary Tony Award this year for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre.
League Awards also went to Seattle Theater Group Executive Director Josh LaBelle (Outstanding Achievement in Presenter Management), Broadway in Boston Director of Public Relations Ann Sheehan (Outstanding Achievement in Road Marketing and Press), Playhouse in the Square’s VP of Community Engagement and Education Daniel Hahn (Outstanding Achievement in Education and Engagement), Broadway in Chicago Executive Director of Sales Gemma Mulvihill (Outstanding Achievement in Road Group Sales), and Broadway company manager Danny Daniello (George MacPherson Road Award).
Additionally celebrated at the conference were the three recipients of this year’s Star of Touring Broadway Awards: Bremer Bank, San Diego County Credit Union, and Howard and Ro Jacobson.
