Classic Arts News Texas Ballet Theater Appoints New Executive Director Gary Wortley has been appointed Texas Ballet Theater's executive director, and will take up the post at the beginning of June.
Wortley has been in management positions at Electronic Data Systems for 22 years, and also has a background in arts and music, including bachelor's and master's degrees in music education and flute performance. He has performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Richardson Symphony Orchestra (with which he was principal flutist), and the Dallas Ballet Orchestra.

He replaces David Mallette, who leaves after 15 years with the company.

Texas Ballet Theater began as Fort Worth Ballet in 1961. Under current artistic director Ben Stevenson, the company performs at Fort Worth's Bass Performance Hall and Dallas's Music Hall at Fair Park.
