The screening celebrates the donation of high-tech digital projector equipment to The Actors Fund. The donation, from BY Experience, allows the residents of The Lillian Booth Actors Home to enjoy all National Theatre Live theatrical programming.

The concept of screening live cultural and music events in cinemas originated with BY Experience and began in 2003 with a David Bowie album launch concert. They began screening the Metropolitan Opera in 2005 and have since brought opera, theatre, music, radio shows and fine arts into live cinema.

The donation of this equipment is an extension of BY Experience's long-time commitment to The Actors Fund programs. When not in use for National Theatre Live events, the equipment can be used by the residents and staff for TV and film viewing and meeting presentations.

The Audience, directed by Stephen Daldry, was seen by cinema audiences worldwide when National Theatre Live broadcasted the play live from London's Gielgud Theatre June 13. Dates vary internationally, and encore screenings will be aired throughout the summer.

Following The Audience, the next season of National Theatre Live begins in September with Nicholas Hytner's production of Othello, starring Adrian Lester and Rory Kinnear.
