The new Off Broadway show Happily Skipping a Beat will open Oct. 11 at the Hudson Guild Theatre after having made a small change — its title.

The original title of the play was If Everyone Is Leaping Thru the Window, They Must Be Jumping to Conclusions, which was recently changed by its playwright, F.N. Asgarali, who said in a statement, “In lieu of the recent sad events, its original title now seems inappropriate.” When hijacked airplanes crashed into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, a handful of people elected to jump out the window from dozens of stories up, none of whom survived.

The comedy/drama was written years ago, however, and produced as an Equity approved Showcase in 1999 at the Grove Street Playhouse.

Happily Skipping a Beat concerns a middle aged man, Egbert, who is left by his wife and, with the help of an unconventional therapist, finds himself coming to terms with being alone. It stars Byron C. Smith as Egbert, Judy Toma as his estranged wife Marla, Peter Galman as Dr. Rumple, Molly Noe as Tinsie, and John Squire as Tony.

The play will run Oct. 11-Nov. 3 at the Hudson Guild Theatre, located at 441 W. 26th Street. Performances are Tuesday through Sunday at 8 PM. Tickets are $35. For more information or tickets, call toll-free at 1-866 468-7619 or go online to www.boldenproductions.com. — by Steve Luber
