NY Musical Theatre Fest The Boys From Oz: Australian Team Takes Flight in Angels at NYMF Angels, a new musical about a war between angels and Lucifer’s devils by the Australian-based creative team of Marcus Cheong (book, lyrics, producer) and Rich Fowler (director), will make its world premiere at the New York Musical Theatre Festival.

Performances will take place Sept. 20-22 at The Duke on 42nd St, 229 West 42nd St.

The cast features Hanna-Liina Vosa (Grease, Hairspray, La Cage Aux Folles) in the lead role of Serra. Her nemesis, Lucifer, is played by Kevin T Collins (The Blonde, Twelve Angry Men). They are accompanied by 21 performers from around the world to play the hosts of heaven, hell’s diabolical minions and everything in between.

Angels tells the epic story of the ancient war between the angels and Lucifer’s fallen minions. The conflict is told through the eyes of Serra, the Angel of Light. Though she is gifted with the power to control light with spectacular effect, she aspires for a more heroic role. Her ambition is manipulated by Lucifer, which results in tragic consequences to the angels and the humans they protect. Serra must decide how far she is willing to go and what she must sacrifice to turn the tide in this celestial battle. Angels is a tale of inspiration, hope and courage, and ideal for families and the young at heart.

The Australians are joined by Ken Lai (composer), Charles Foster(La Boheme, Hair, Avenue Q), and Bernard Fox(Sweeney Todd, City of Angels, Beauty and the Beast).
