Cynthia Erivo, who made the leap from her Tony-winning Broadway performance in The Color Purple to leading screen roles in Widows and Bad Times at the El Royale, will also produce and star in a new podcast for Los Angeles-based audio firm QCode.
According to Deadline, Erivo will play a long-haul truck driver who makes a disturbing discovery about the mysterious cargo she’s transporting in the new podcast Carrier, which is aiming to launch in the coming months.
The cast also features Lamorne Morris, Martin Starr, Lance Reddick, Elliott Gould, Robert Longstreet, Dale Dickey, Chris Ellis, Steve Howey, Oliver Cooper, Byron Bowers, and Joel McKinnon Miller.
Carrier is written and directed by Dan Blank. The series will incorporate cutting edge dimensional audio techniques to deliver an immersive listening experience. QCode’s debut title Blackout, starring Bohemian Rhapsody Oscar winner Rami Malek, premiered at #2 on the Apple podcast charts.
Erivo will next star in the upcoming Harriet Tubman biopic, Harriet, with the films Chaos Walking and Needle in a Timestack also in the works. She has also just signed on for a movie musical inspired by the fable of Rip van Winkle, co-starring Josh Gad.
