News "The Fever" — Starring Vanessa Redgrave — Will Make HBO Debut June 13 Academy Award winner Vanessa Redgrave, currently back on Broadway in The Year of Magical Thinking, stars in "The Fever," which makes its debut on HBO June 13 at 9:30 PM ET.

The HBO Films production is based on Wallace Shawn's play of the same name and features a screenplay by Shawn and Carlo Nero; Nero also directs.

Redgrave stars as Julia in the 90-minute film. Her co-stars include Michael Moore ("Bowling for Columbine"), Joely Richardson ("Nip/Tuck"), Rade Sherbedgia ("Eyes Wide Shut"), Geraldine James ("Calendar Girls") and Simon Williams.

"The Fever," according to press notes, "is a tale of the imagination in which a well-to-do woman is cut down by a sudden passing illness while traveling in a poor, war-stricken country. The ensuing fever and discomfort lead her on a psychological voyage of self-discovery, in which she reflects on the privilege of the West in comparison to the poverty, violence and injustice that exist elsewhere."

In a statement director Nero said, "The ever-widening gap between those who have and those who have not plagues me, because there sees to be no legitimate moral reason for this. It is the awakening to the brutal realization that we are deeply connected to the condition of so many other people that lies at the core of 'The Fever,' and is why this film needed to be made now, more than ever."

HBO2 will broadcast "The Fever" June 16 (at 2 PM) and June 18 (at midnight). Filmed in Zagreb, Croatia, the film was executive produced by Redgrave and Jason Blum. HBO Video will release the film on DVD July 31.

Vanessa Redgrave won a Tony Award for her performance as Mary Tyrone in Long Day's Journey Into Night. A revered star of stage and screen, she has been nominated for six Oscars and won for "Julia." HBO will also likely film Redgrave's Tony-nominated performance in The Year of Magical Thinking.
