News The Full Monty, Stage Play Based on the Film, Announces Cast and U.K. Tour Dates The previously announced production of The Full Monty, a play by the Oscar-winning writer Simon Beaufoy based on the Fox Searchlight Pictures film of the same name that Beaufoy also wrote, has announced its full cast and tour dates to follow its U.K. premiere at Sheffield's Lyceum Theatre.

It will begin performances Feb. 2, 2013, in Sheffield, prior to an 11-week tour that will visit Birmingham, Bristol, Canterbury, Aberdeen,  Belfast, Edinburgh, Dublin, Salford, Southampton, Southend on Sea and Leeds.

The production, to be directed by Daniel Evans, artistic director of Sheffield Theatres, will be led by Kenny Doughty, Craig Gazey, Simon Rouse, Keiran O’Brien, Roger Morlidge and Sidney Cole. Also in the cast are Scott Anson, Tracy Brabin, Caroline Carver, Eamonn Fleming, Elaine Glover, Rachel Lumberg and Ian Mercer.

The production is designed by Robert Jones, with choreography by Steven Hoggett, lighting by Tim Lutkin, music and sound by Ben and Max Ringham and casting by Sarah Bird. It is produced by David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers

While the subsequent Broadway musical version of the film, also called The Full Monty, relocated the action to Buffalo, NY, this play returns it to Sheffield. According to press materials, it will rediscover the men, the women, the heartache and the hilarity of a city on the dole. The production will also feature the iconic songs from the film by Donna Summer, Rod Stewart, Hot Chocolate and Tom Jones.
