MCC Theater has announced that Ari Graynor (The Little Dog Laughed), Stefania LaVie Owen (The Carrie Diaries), and Justice Smith (The Get Down) will join the previously announced Lucas Hedges in the American premiere of Yen. Anna Jordan’s Bruntwood Prize-winning play, to be directed by MCC alum Trip Cullman, will begin previews January 12, 2017.

Hedges, whose credits include Wes Anderson favorites Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel, and stars in the soon-to-be-released new film from Kenneth Lonergan, Manchester by the Sea, will lead the cast of the new play. Performances will be at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, with an opening night set for January 30. The engagement is currently scheduled through February 19.

Yen tells the story of two boys, played by Hedges and Smith, who spend much of their time at home alone, watching porn, playing video games, and being idle. “Their mom rarely visits these days, and it’s chaos when she does,” read production notes. “But when animal-loving neighbor Jenny takes an interest in their dog Taliban, the boys discover a world far beyond what they know.” The new work is billed as an exploration of “a childhood lived without boundaries.”

Tickets are now on sale to the general public. The Lucille Lortel Theatre is located at 121 Christopher Street, New York. For tickets and more information, visit mcctheater.org.
