News The Girl From Bare Cove, Original Folk Opera With Five Actor-Musicians, Given World Premiere Sept. 17-19 The Girl From Bare Cove, an original folk opera written for five actor-musicians, is given its world premiere Sept. 17-19. Free presentations of the piece are held at the Alchemical Theater Laboratory in Manhattan.

Directed by Maridee Slater, the cast features Brittany Parker as Sister, Jillie Mae Eddy as Girl, Sophia Holtz as Mother, Luke Wygodny as Boy and Paul Eddy as Father.

The piece features words and music by Jillie Mae Eddy with orchestrations by Kimmy Szeto and Eddy. Music direction is by Eddy and Sophia Holtz.

The Girl From Bare Cove, according to press notes, "follows a family in crisis as they face the near-loss of one of their own. With songs inspired by the folk sounds of New England and a story rooted in the ghostly traditions and fairy tales of that place, this modern-day fable invites us to explore the communities we share and the worlds we build for ourselves. Or, in the words of our narrator: 'This is the story of the girl from Bare Cove, and of her mother and her father, and of the boy she loves, and of her sister...and of the voices she hears in her head.'"

Performances are offered Sept. 17-19 at 7 PM.

Other members of the creative team include general manager Zach Perez, stage manager and lighting designer Lauren Arneson, orchestration assistant Iuri Gama and music copyist Alexandra Krawetz. Eddy and Zach Perez produce with Slater as associate producer.

Alchemical Theater Laboratory is located at 137 W. 14th Street. For reservations, email [email protected].
