New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced a one-week extension of The House That Will Not Stand, Marcus Gardley’s new play. The New York premiere of The House That Will Not Stand opened on July 30 at NYTW and was originally set to close on August 12. The production will now run through August 19.
Obie Award winner Lileana Blain-Cruz directs a cast that includes Tony Award nominee Michelle Wilson (Sweat), Joniece Abbott-Pratt, Juliana Canfield, Harriett D. Foy, Lynda Gravátt, Nedra McClyde, and Marie Thomas.
Inspired by Federico García Lorca's The House of Bernarda Alba, The House That Will Not Stand takes place in New Orleans on the eve of the Louisiana Purchase and follows the story of four free women of color.
NYTW has been incubating new theatrical works for four decades. Located in New York's East Village, NYTW presents five new productions each season.
