Following preview performances that began Sept. 11, the show will continue through Nov. 16.
The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later revisits the citizens of Laramie, WY, the town where gay college student Matthew Shepard was beaten to death in 1998. The original Laramie Project debuted in 2000 and was later adapted into an HBO movie of the same name, directed by Moises Kaufman.
Directed by Ken Sawyer, the Los Angeles cast features Paul Haitkin, Michael Hanson, Elizabeth Herron, Carl J. Johnson, Che Landon, Ed F. Martin, Ann Noble, Dylan Seaton, Christine Sloane and Paul Witten.
The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later debuted in 2009 and has been performed throughout the country. Created by Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project, the show's script is derived from interviews conducted with residents of Laramie. It includes an interview with Aaron McKinney, one of the two men convicted of murdering Shepard.
When the sequel premiered in 2009, theatre companies in all 50 states came together to produce staged readings of the play on the same day.
