The Last Session, the new musical by Jim Brochu and Steve Schalchlin, is making theatrical waves. The recent recipient of six Garland Awards, the show has also been nominated for Best L.A. Production by GLAAD.

The GLAAD awards honor individuals and projects in the media and entertainment industries for their balanced and accurate representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities and the issues that affect their lives. Previous winners include Angels in America, Falsettos and Last Summer at Blue Fish Cove, among others.

The GLAAD Media Awards will be held here on April 17. Other award ceremonies will take place in New York (March 28) and Washington, D.C. (May 8). Call (888) 655-6529 for information.

The Last Session has also received rave reviews from all major Los Angeles critics and is extending its run at the Tiffany Theatre, where it transferred last fall from the Laguna Playhouse. The new closing date is Mar. 14.

The Last Session, along with "Kids for Kids," an organization whose mission is to reach across the footlights and promote education through the arts, is offering a lottery one half hour before each performance with a limited number of front row seats available for $15 to students with a valid I.D. The proceeds benefit charities selected by "Kids for Kids." -- By Willard Manus
