The cast is led by Jessica Grové as Ariel with Alan Mingo Jr. as Sebastian, Ellen Harvey as Ursula, Ian Parmenter as Prince Eric and Matt Allen as Scuttle.
The production also features 18 students from NC Theatre's flagship training program, the North Carolina Theatre Conservatory in North Raleigh, including Joseph Gaitens in the role of Flounder.
Based on the Academy Award-winning 1989 Disney film and the Hans Christian Andersen story, The Little Mermaid has a book by Doug Wright and a score that has Alan Menken and Howard Ashman’s music from the original Disney film, including “Part of Your World,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” “Kiss The Girl” and the Oscar-winning “Under The Sea.” There are also several brand-new songs written for the stage by Menken and Glenn Slater.
"Journey under-the-sea to a magical underwater kingdom, with the beautiful young mermaid Ariel who longs to leave her ocean home behind and live in the world above," according to previous production notes. "But first, she'll have to defy her father King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she's the girl whose enchanting voice he’s been seeking."
