News The Meeting* Will Celebrate Marlene Dietrich With Performances by Nellie McKay and Cole Escola Nellie McKay and Cole Escola will be part of the Nov. 15 installment of Justin Sayre's The Meeting*, which will be devoted to film icon Marlene Dietrich, at the Duplex.

The Meeting* is a monthly "gay romp through politics (sexual and otherwise), social news, music, comedy skits, and other important life-changing information." Each presentation is devoted to a different gay icon. Sayre hosts with various special guests. Adam J. Rosen and Dan Fortune produce the series.

Tracy Stark will be the musical director for the evening that promises performances by singer-songwriter McKay (Threepenny Opera), Escola, Danielle Grabianowski and Kim Smith.

Here's how the evening is billed: "The essence of Deco glamour, the international film legend donned a tuxedo and top hat to pioneer androgynous fashion at a time when Hollywood's gender lines were rigidly defined. Privately bisexual, she flirted with onscreen lesbianism. Also a noted song stylist, she introduced the famed torch song 'Falling In Love Again' and the camp classic 'The Boys in the Back Room.'"

The past two years Sayre and company have also presented Night of a Thousand Judys, a benefit for the Ali Forney Center, in June.

All shows are at 9:30 PM. There is a $10 cover charge and a two-drink minimum. For tickets visit BrownPaperTickets.com. The Duplex is located at 61 Christopher Street at 7th Ave.
