News The Moonlight Room Shines at Off-Broadway's Beckett Beginning Feb. 24 The Worth Street Theatre's recent success, The Moonlight Room by Tristine Skyler, will transfer to a commercial run at midtown's Beckett Theatre on Theatre Row. Performances begin Feb. 24. Opening is March 1.

The show began previews Oct. 31, 2003, at the Tribeca Playhouse (111 Reade Street) and opened Nov. 3 to a career-making review from the Times' Bruce Weber. Its closing date of Nov. 24 was soon extended to Dec. 7, and then Dec. 14. Artistic director Jeff Cohen, as with all Worth shows, directed.

Moonlight is set in the waiting room of a New York City hospital ER. There, two adolescents wait to hear the fate of their friend, while navigating tense relationships with various parents and siblings. Featured in the cast are Laura Breckenridge, Lawrence Jones, Kathryn Layng, Mark Rosenthal and Brendan Sexton III.

Skyler's background lies mainly in television and film. As an actress, she has appeared on TV in "Providence" and "Angel," and in the film "Book of Shadows: Blair Witch II." As a screenwriter, she co-authored "Getting to Know You." She also starred in and co-produced the movie "Final Draft," which featured Rosenthal.
