The extension week goes on sale Jan. 17 at noon. Call Telecharge at (212) 239-6200 or visit Telecharge.com or the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre Box Office, 261 W. 47th Street. (Feb. 24 was the original close date for The Other Place).
To accommodate the extension for The Other Place, MTC is shifting the dates for the upcoming world premiere of The Assembled Parties, the new play by Richard Greenberg, directed by Lynne Meadow. It will now start previews on March 21, two days later than previously announced. The opening will remain April 17 at the Friedman Theatre.

White's mysterious play about a medical researcher whose health, homelife and workplace are shaken, featuring Laurie Metcalf, reprising her earlier Off-Broadway performance, plus Daniel Stern, Zoe Perry and John Schiappa, opened Jan. 10 following previews from Dec. 11, 2012, at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
Manhattan Theatre Club produces the Joe Mantello-directed staging. Like Metcalf, Schiappa (Assassins, Take Me Out) returns to the roles he created when The Other Place had its world premiere in 2011 in the Mantello staging by Off-Broadway's MCC Theater.
Three-time Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Metcalf ("Roseanne," November, London's Long Day's Journey Into Night) — who was praised for her performance as a doctor-turned-pharmaceutical promoter facing family and health issues — is here playing opposite her real-life daughter, Perry, who is making her Broadway debut (in several roles). Daniel Stern is widely known for TV's "The Wonder Years," and the films "Diner," "Home Alone," "City Slickers," "Breaking Away." This marks his Broadway debut.
In the play, which is billed as a thriller, Metcalf plays Juliana Smithton, "a successful neurologist whose life seems to be coming unhinged," according to MTC. "Her husband (Daniel Stern) has filed for divorce, her daughter (Zoe Perry) has eloped with a much older man (John Schiappa) and her own health is in jeopardy. But in this brilliantly crafted work, nothing is as it seems. Piece by piece, a mystery unfolds as fact blurs with fiction, past collides with present and the elusive truth about Juliana boils to the surface."
Audiences and critics alike have observed that the complexity of both the writing and Metcalf's performance make it seem like there are two leading ladies at the center of the trim 75-minute work: a composed medical professional at the top of the show and a fractured creature at play's end.
Mantello is the two-time Tony-winning director of Other Desert Cities, Wicked, Assassins, Take Me Out and Love! Valour! Compassion!
For its extended spring 2011 run by MCC Theater at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, The Other Place was nominated for two Outer Critics Circle Awards, a Drama League Award, and three Lucille Lortel Awards. Metcalf won an Obie Award and a Lucille Lortel Award for her performance. Read the recent Playbill magazine feature about Metcalf.
