The crew from the St. James beat the basemen from Beauty and the Beast in two successive games, first winning 9-8 and then, more decisively, 20-5.

The teams played a double header due to a Show League rule that requires the company with the fewer amount of seasonal wins to trounce the season champs not once, but twice. Beauty finished the 2004 summer season with no losses; Producers suffered a single defeat. Thus, when the latter company triumphed in the championship game, the need for a second and deciding bout arose.

The events transpired Sept. 2 at Central Park's Heckscher Softball Fields.

The Producers previously won the Show League crown in 2001 and 2002—feats that are proudly trumpeted on the side of the St. James Theatre.
