Roots band leader (and drummer) Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and co-founder Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter were tapped by Miranda for the task, according to an announcement on Miranda's Twitter page. The Roots are also showcased as the house band for "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."

Questlove has served as producer for major albums from pop stars including Erykah Badu, Jay-Z, Elvis Costello, Nikka Costa, Al Green and Amy Winehouse.

Questlove and Black Thought also appeared in the controversial 2000 film "Bamboozled" with Savion Glover.

No label has been announced for the Hamilton release, which is due out this fall. Hamilton starts previews July 13 and opens Aug. 6 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.
