News THE SCREENING ROOM: Alan Menken, Craig Carnelia and More Combat Sheet Music Piracy With "Someone Wrote That Song" (Video) The Dramatists Guild has released the music video to "Someone Wrote That Song," a new tune by Tony, Grammy and Academy Award winner Alan Menken and Tony nominee Craig Carnelia, in response to illegal download and photocopying of sheet music.

Directed and edited by Jeremy Levine, the video features vocals by Nick Blaemire (Godspell, Dogfight) and songwriters Kait Kerrigan (The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown), Benj Pasek (A Christmas Story, Dogfight) and Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Wicked) with backup vocals by Curtis Moore (The Coast of Utopia).

The music video was produced by Carnelia, Levine and Schwartz, and the song was produced, arranged and recorded by Moore.

On The Dramatists Guild's YouTube channel, a message below the video reads, "As destructive and unfair to composers, lyricists and publishers as the illegal photocopying of sheet music has been over the years, the spread of free sheet music sites on the internet is threatening the very existence of professional publishing. In response to this threat, the Dramatists Guild formed the Anti-Piracy committee to combat the piracy of sheet music on the internet. The committee consists of Craig Carnelia, Andrew Lippa, Georgia Stitt, Stephen Flaherty, Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk."
