Fry received the Freedom of the City of London, which is the highest honor the City of London can bestow. He was nominated by the Red Cross International Fundraising Committee, in "recognition of his career and humanitarianism in supporting a variety of causes and inspiring his millions of followers to do the same."

Performers included Tony nominee and Little Shop of Horrors star Ellen Greene as well as Ashleigh Gray and Steven Webb.

Although film of the event has not surfaced, rehearsal footage has. What follows are performances of Ashleigh Gray singing "Defying Gravity," Ellen Greene singing "Somewhere That's Green," Greene, Steven Webb and Gray singing "Suddenly Seymour" and Webb singing "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered."
