Rupert Holmes may be best known to Broadway fans for The Mystery of Edwin Drood and Curtains, but the prolific writer is also an accomplished pop songwriter, with hits including "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)," "Answering Machine" and "Him." is celebrating Holmes' Feb. 24 birthday with a collection of material from Drood and his pop career. If you don't know his early work – give the songs a listen!

Holmes, who took home 1986 Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Original Score for The Mystery of Edwin Drood, was also Tony-nominated for the book and score of Curtains. His other Broadway credits include Solitary Confinement and Say Goodnight, Gracie, among others.
