News THE SCREENING ROOM: Highlights From the West End's Mystery of Edwin Drood (Video) Rupert Holmes' The Mystery of Edwin Drood, which was recently seen at Clapham's Landor Theatre, will begin performances at the West End's Arts Theatre May 18, prior to an official opening May 22.

Directed by Matthew Gould, the limited engagement will continue through June 17. The production features musical direction by James Cleeve and orchestrations by Tony Osborne.

The Mystery of Edwin Drood stars Wendi Peters ("Coronation Street") with Natalie Day, Victoria Farley, Daniel Robinson, Loula Geater, David Francis, Denis Delahunt, Richard Stirling, Chris Coleman, Oliver Mawdsley, Paul Hutton, Tom Pepper and Ben Goffe.

Based on Charles Dickens' final unfinished novel, Drood, according to press notes, is a "thrilling and comical play within a play set in the world of music hall and pantomime [that] follows the exploits of characters from the Theatre Royale Music Hall Company as they set about completing the unfinished story of Edwin Drood – with a little sing-along help from the audience along the way. Who is the killer? The audience decides each night."

The Mystery of Edwin Drood is produced by Katy Lipson for Aria Entertainment. The show is also scheduled for an entirely separate revival by Roundabout Theatre Company at its Studio 54 base in the fall.
