"Let It Go" songwriters Robert and Kristen-Anderson Lopez received their first Academy Award March 2 — making Robert Lopez the youngest person to become an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award winner). He also holds the record for taking only ten years to complete the achievement. Following the Oscar ceremony, Menzel returned to New York City — in preparation for If/Then, which begins performances March 5 at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre — and appeared on "The Tonight Show" to cover "Let It Go" with "classroom instruments."
Menzel, who also plays triangle, was accompanied by Fallon on toy blocks, bass drum and Casio keyboard; Questlove on kazoo and jingle sticks; Mark Kelley on kazoo; Kamal Gray on xylophone; James Poyser on melodica; Luke on ukulele; Tuba Gooding Jr. on lemon shaker; Frank Knuckles on bongos; and Black Thought on tambourine and chimes.
