Mullin, a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, is a retired basketball player and former general manager of NBA's Golden State Warriors. Following his stint with the Warriors, Mullin also played with the Indiana Pacers before returning to his original team and retiring after the 2000-01 season.
The former basketball superstar recently returned to the New York City basketball courts, which also serve as a rehearsal studio for the Broadway-bound Lysistrata Jones, to assist Patti Murin, who stars as the show's title character, and the cast of Lysistrata.
Murin leads a cast that also includes Liz Mikel (Hetaira), Josh Segarra (Mick), Jason Tam (Xander), and Lindsay Nicole Chambers (Robin) with Alexander Aguilar (Uardo), Ato Blankson-Wood (Tyllus), Katie Boren (Lampito), Kat Nejat (Cleonice), LaQuet Sharnell (Mhyrinne), Teddy Toye (Harold) and Alex Wyse (Cinesius).
Based on the ancient Greek classic by Aristophanes, the pop musical was seen this summer on the Off-Broadway courts. Lysistrata Jones will now dribble its way to midtown for a Broadway transfer, complete with the original Off-Broadway cast.
Lysistrata Jones is a musical comedy by book writer and Tony Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane (Sister Act, The Little Dog Laughed) and composer-lyricist Lewis Flinn. The Off-Broadway production was directed and choreographed by Dan Knechtges, who repeats his work for the Broadway transfer. Here’s how the production is billed: “The Athens University basketball team hasn’t won a game in 30 years. But when spunky transfer student Lysistrata Jones dares the squad’s fed-up girlfriends to stop ‘giving it up’ to their boyfriends until they win a game, their legendary losing streak could be coming to an end.”
