News THE SCREENING ROOM: Porgy and Bess Performs "It Ain't Necessarily So" on "Late Night" (Video) Tony Award nominee David Alan Grier and the cast of the Broadway revival of The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess visited "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" Feb. 21—the second night of Broadway week on "Late Night"—to perform "It Ain't Necessarily So."

Porgy and Bess, directed by Diane Paulus, officially opened at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre Jan. 12. Grier, who is a two-time Tony nominee for his work in Race and The First, is joined in Porgy and Bess by Tony winner Audra McDonald and Drama Desk nominee Norm Lewis.

According to the producers, Porgy and Bess "is set in Charleston’s fabled Catfish Row, where the beautiful Bess struggles to break free from her scandalous past, and the only one who can rescue her is the crippled but courageous Porgy. Threatened by her formidable former lover Crown, and the seductive enticements of the colorful troublemaker Sporting Life, Porgy and Bess’ relationship evolves into a deep romance that triumphs as one of theater’s most exhilarating love stories."
