Tune in Time, which involves teams of composers and lyricists collaborating to write a brand-new song in under 20 minutes, will return March 14 with an evening celebrating Broadway's online/internet showstoppers. The panel of judges will include twitter sensation Laura Heywood (@BroadwayGirlNYC) and the hosts of the Ensemblist podcast, Nikka Graff Lanzarone and Mo Brady. The line-up of songwriters includes Lisa DeSpain, Garth Kravits, Sarah Ziegler, Kate Chadwick, Nikko Benson and Benjamin Halstead.
Hosted by The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter’s, the show is presented by Amy Engelhardt and Heather Shields, hosted by Emily McNamara, with musical director Nate Buccieri and timekeeper Sheila Head.
The May 9 installment is set to celebrate the arrival of the warmer weather with the skimpily-clad Skivvies, joined by Tony winner Eagan. Writers will include Adam Overett and Teresa Lotz, among others.
Each edition of Tune in Time features a different roster of musical theatre composers and lyricists as well as a panel of celebrity judges. The contestants are prompted to write a song for a new musical, the title of which is picked from a selection of audience suggestions and in a style determined by a spin of the genre wheel.
Tickets, priced $20, can be purchased online at YorkTheatre.org or by calling (212) 935-5820. Performances will take place at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter’s located at the Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th St.
