A country singer reinvents himself as gay pop star after being outed in the new work.

John Patterson's new play MASK4MASK begins industry readings at Off-Broadway's The Tank September 23 at 3 PM. Another will be held September 24 a the same time, with both readings free and open to the public.

Meet Grant Collins, a country singer recently outed for being gay and who has since transformed himself into a pop star. He tries to find his new public image by "[trying] on several different versions of what it means to be queer," but in the process, he loses his connections to his audience, his lovers—and himself.

Starring in the reading are Dom Martello (Hunted Pride), Jimmy Brooks (Safeword, A Clockwork Orange), Evan Simone Frazier (The Cake), Ruza Madarevic (The Blacklist), and Nicholas James Reilly (Speech & Debate). Patterson directs. Brooks appears courtesy of Actors' Equity Association.
