The new play that revels in the history and practice of ventriloquism (and got some of the best reviews of the current Broadway season) will celebrate the 29th birthday of Johnson's wooden sidekick, Bob, on Nov. 21 with a two-hour window of opportunity to snag a couple of 222 tickets being sold at $2 per ticket.

"In honor of the puppet's 29th birthday, celebration festivities, revolving around the number two (as in The Two and Only) will take place outside of the Helen Hayes Theatre (240 West 44th St.)," according to the producers. "For two hours, beginning at 2 PM, two hundred and twenty-two tickets will be on sale to the public for $2 each (cash only, valid for performances from Nov. 23 through Dec. 24). Each person in line for tickets will be entered to win a variety of prizes, including two VIP Grandstand Seats to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade; two TUTUs from; a backpack from Tumi; two passes to Madame Tussauds New York; two special holiday gifts from Bloomingdale's; two basic ventriloquist dummies provided by; dinner for two at restaurants like One If By Land, TWO If By Sea, Trattoria Dopo Teatro and Gallagher's Steakhouse, and more!"

Those in line will also be treated to food "from TWO Peas and a Pot and a birthday cake for Bob."

Jay Johnson's side-kick Bob made his network television debut in November 1977 on the groundbreaking comedy series "Soap." Still together after almost three decades, Bob is now starring on Broadway with Jay in Jay Johnson: The Two and Only!, along with a variety of other characters.

The day culminates with the unveiling of Jay and Bob's portrait at Sardi's — one of the few portraits along Sardi's walls to feature two characters together. Jay Johnson: The Two and Only! opened on Broadway to critical raves on Sept. 28. It was seen in an earlier Off-Broadway engagement and has played regional dates, as well.

The Jay Johnson: The Two and Only! performance schedule is as follows: Tuesday through Thursday at 7 PM, Saturday at 2 & 8 PM and Sunday at 1 & 5 PM.

Tickets can be purchased at or by calling (212) 239-6200.
