News The Vagina Monologues Will Return Off-Broadway in Spanish-Language Production A Spanish-language staging of Eve Ensler's acclaimed play The Vagina Monologues will begin performances Off-Broadway May 6 at the Westside Theatre, the production's original Off-Broadway home.

Morris Gilbert and Federico González Compeán, who are the producers of the long-running Mexico City production of Los Monólogos de la Vagina, will present the New York return that will be directed by Jaime Matarredona.

Akin to the previous Off-Broadway model, Los Monólogos de la Vagina will feature a cast of rotating actresses. The New York production will be modeled after the Mexico City production. Portions of tickets sold will benefit Ensler's global activism campaign V-Day, which seeks to end violence against women.

Casting and an opening night will be announced.

The original Obie Award-winning production of The Vagina Monologues played 1,381 performances at The Westside Theatre from 1999 to 2003. It has played in over 140 countries and in over 48 languages. A television version featuring Ensler was produced for HBO in 2002.

Ensler's plays include Necessary Targets, The Treatment, The Good Body and Emotional Creature. Her new play O.P.C. will premiere at the American Repertory Theater in November.
