Condon ("Dreamgirls") has given new dramatic shape to the pop-driven musical that has a score by Henry Krieger (Dreamgirls) and Bill Russell (Elegies for Angels...), who also wrote the book. This new, darker approach to the material, which incorporates new songs and additional biographical details of the lives of conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton as well as historical figures of the era, premiered last fall at the La Jolla Playhouse, prior to the current Kennedy Center run, which continues through July 13.

Erin Davie (Grey Gardens, A Little Night Music) and Emily Padgett (Rock of Ages, Flashdance) co-star as Violet and Daisy, respectively.

The creative team is hopeful the production may have a future New York life.
