The Broadway boards are busy this WEEK AHEAD!

Saturday, August 23
LAST CHANCE→ Tony nominee Stephen McKinley Henderson stars in Stephen Adly Guirgis' latest observations on the colorful denizens of New York — and all their baggage — in Between Riverside and Crazy. Henderson plays "Pops," a wheel chair-bound widower hanging on (with all his might) to a spacious rent-controlled Riverside Drive apartment, while his landlord, family and co-workers try to convince him to move on. Austin Pendleton directs. (Linda Gross Theater, 336 W. 20th St., btwn. 8th & 9th Aves. Info/tickets.)

Sunday, August 24
LAST CHANCE→ Disney's stage version of the 1992 film "Newsies" seizes its final night on Broadway. Corey Cott stars as Jack Kelly, a street kid who leads a band of dancing newboys in a strike against publishing magnates Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst. The musical features a beloved score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman, which includes the hits "Seize the Day," "Santa Fe" and "Once and For All." (Nederlander Theatre, 208 W. 41st St., btwn. 7th & 8th Aves. Info/tickets.)

LAST CHANCE→ Another film-to-stage musical, Bullets Over Broadway, takes its last Broadway bow. Marin Mazzie, Zach Braff, Nick Cordero, Betsy Wolfe and the always hilarious Brooks Ashmanskas comprise the company of this Susan Stroman-helmed splashy makeover of Woody Allen's ode to the Ziegfeld era — replete with gangsters, mols, showgirls and dancing hotdogs. (St. James Theatre, 246 W. 44th St., btwn. 7th & 8th Aves. Click here for Playbill Club discount tickets.)

Monday, August 25
WATCH→ TV's biggest night gets its requisite bit of Broadway dazzle at this year's 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. The HBO version of Larry Kramer's Tony-winning opus "The Normal Heart" earned 16 nominations, including acting nods for stars Mark Ruffalo, Julia Roberts, Jim Parsons, Alfred Molina and Tony winner Joe Mantello. Other Tony winners in the race for an Emmy this year include Bryan Cranston, Kevin Spacey, Maggie Smith, Christine Baranski, Mandy Patinkin, Robert Morse, Cicely Tyson and Nathan Lane. "The Sound of Music Live!" received four nominations, including one for Rob Ashford. Tony winner Billy Crystal will pay tribute to his Comic Relief cohost, Robin Williams, during the telecast. Seth Meyers will serve as the evening's emcee. (8 PM ET/5 PM PT, NBC. Info.)  Tuesday, August 26
PREVIEWS→ James Earl Jones, Rose Byrne and Elizabeth Ashley star in the first revival of Kaufman and Hart's Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, You Can't Take It With You, to hit Broadway in three decades. Joining the above in the madcap comedy about the coming together of two eccentric families are some of Broadway's funniest ladies — Kristine Nielsen, Annaleigh Ashford and Julie Halston. And the men in the company ain't too shabby either, with deft comedians Reg Rogers and Mark Linn-Baker rounding out the cast. Officially opens Sept. 28. (Longacre Theatre, 220 W. 48th St., btwn. Broadway & 8th Ave. Click here for Playbill Club discount tickets.)

Wednesday, August 27
GO→ Joan Rivers returns to her local watering hole, the Laurie Beechman Theatre, for another hilarious, no-holds-barred set in the intimate space below the West Bank Café. Proceeds from tickets go to God's Love We Deliver and Guide Dogs for the Blind. (8 PM, Laurie Beechman Theatre, 407 W. 42nd St., btwn. 9th & 10th Aves., tickets start at $45. Info/tickets.)

Thursday, August 28
PREVIEWS→ Box-office darlings Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane lead an all-star cast — including Megan Mullally, F. Murray Abraham, Stockard Channing and "Harry Potter" star Rupert Grint — in the Terrence McNally comedy It's Only a Play. Officially opens Oct. 9. (Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, 236 W. 45th St., btwn. Broadway & 8th Ave. Info/tickets.)

Friday, August 29

Szot is one of nine performers scheduled to perform at Playbill's first resort takeover at the St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club. (Through Aug. 30, 54 Below, 254 W. 54th St., btwn. Bway & 8th Ave. Info/tickets.)
