We will be covering all the highlights from the annual fest that brings together over 4,500 young theatre fans from 26 states! Tony Award-nominated A Christmas Story scribes Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, [title of show] star Heidi Blickenstaff, Broadway's original Mary Poppins Ashley Brown and young adult author Tim Federle will be on hand imparting their Broadway wisdom to these talented tots. LAST CHANCE→ The critically-acclaimed theatrical magic show Nothing to Hide, starring magicians Derek DelGaudio and Helder Guimarães and directed by Neil Patrick Harris, ends its extended (and recouped!) run in NYC. Monday, January 20
GO (FREE)→ The Brooklyn Academy of Music throws its annual tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. featuring myriad performers, authors, activists and speakers. Keynote speaker Angela Davis will be joined by musical performances from José James and the BCCC Singers of the Brooklyn Christian Cultural Center. (10:30 AM, BAM Howard Gilman Opera House. GO→ Tony-winning icon Carol Channing will join Tony-nominated Kiki & Herb star Justin Vivian Bond for a chat at Town Hall. Channing, the original Dolly in the legendary Jerry Herman musical Hello, Dolly!, will talk about her vast history with that musical's 50 years, as well as her own milestone — turning 93 next week! PREVIEWS→ Acclaimed writer and actor Charles Busch is back at it with a new play that finds him amongst familiar company. The Tribute Artist reunites Busch with frequent collaborators, actress Julie Halston and director Carl Andress, for the new comedy about an out-of-work female impersonator who assumes a new identity. GO→ Two-time Tony-winning stunner Sutton Foster returns to the Café Carlyle for another evening of song. Preceding her Broadway return in Violet (opening later this season), Foster takes to the intimate Carlyle stage in a return engagement of her beautiful exploration of heartbreak and love with music director Michael Rafter. OPENING→ Debra Messing and Tony winner Brían F. O'Byrne star in John Patrick Shanley's newest play Outside Mullingar. The new rom-com features Messing and O'Byrne as two oddballs fighting for love and a piece of land in rural Ireland. Shanley reunites here with his Tony-winning Doubt director, Doug Hughes. GO→ Bebe Neuwirth, who took home a Tony Award for her acclaimed portrayal of jazz-age killer Velma Kelly in the hit revival of Chicago and returned ten years later as merry murderess Roxie Hart, has stepped into the role of Matron "Mama" Morton for an eight-week limited run.
