LAST CHANCE→ On a Clear Day… you can see 'til Sunday, when the Broadway revival of the Alan Jay Lerner and Burton Lane musical closes. This reincarnated version, courtesy of Tony-winning director Michael Mayer, stars Harry Connick, Jr. as a psychiatrist pining for the past-life incarnation (Jessie Mueller) of one of his patients (David Turner). GO→ Evenings at Circle in the Square Theatre may be dedicated to Jesus (by way of Godspell), but come morning, Cinderella reigns supreme with Cinderella: A New Version of The Oldest Story Ever Told. PREVIEWS→ She's baaaack! Carrie, one of Broadway's most notorious flops, rears her possessed little head after 20-some years of banishment. This revamp of the musical version of the Stephen King classic comes courtesy of Off-Broadway's MCC Theatre and stars Molly Ranson (Jerusalem, August: Osage County) as the bullied teenager raised by a fanatic nut of a mother (Marin Mazzie). PREVIEWS→ Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham stars in the Classic Stage Company's revival of Bertolt Brecht's Galileo. Abraham plays the embattled astronomer who famously went against the Catholic Church in the late 16th century to fight for his right to express his theory of how the planets move around the sun. OPENING→ Director Sam Gold (Seminar) is at the helm of the Roundabout's Off-Broadway revival of John Osborne's Look Back in Anger. Matthew Rhys plays Jimmy, a working-class Englishman living in a tiny attic apartment with his upper-middle-class wife Allison (Sarah Goldberg). When his resentment for his wife comes to a head, Jimmy takes up with his wife's friend (Charlotte Parry), while Jimmy's mate Cliff (Adam Driver) tries to be the voice of reason. GO→ Did the cancellation of the upcoming Broadway revival of Funny Girl rain on your parade? Fear not! Leslie Kritzer, who gave a memorable performances as Fanny Brice in a Paper Mill production of the classic Jule Styne musical a few years ago, explores the Styne songbook with the concert Hello, Gorgeous! Expect Kritzer belting out the songs from Gypsy, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and, of course, Funny Girl.
